    Silent Boot

This is not a huge deal, and highlights my ignorance, but I had no idea that turning the sound down affects boot sounds as well (like the explosion of thunder when you turn on the Thunderbolt).

Anyway, if you're not rooted, and don't want that loud noise every time you have to reboot (if you're at work or next to your significant other late at night), Silent Boot does it for you. You can enable/disable it whenever. When you power down, it mutes the phone, when you boot back in, it reverts the sound back to it's previous setting - without you seeing any of that.

Thought it was a handy little app and wanted to share... even if it does highlight a "duh" moment in my Android life.

Thanks for that! Disable annoying startup sounds indeed. I hate 'em. I'd try to always turn the volume down, but sometimes I'd forget. Nice to not have to think about it.

Great tip. Those boot sounds are extremely annoying. Especially when I'm changing stuff on my phone at home. Everytime my wife hears the thunder, she wants to know what I've done to my phone now.
I've used BAMF tools to fix it, but this is a great solution for the unrooted.

I works fine, unless I use quickboot to shut it off or reboot. Rats.

You know, I don't even use my quick boot. What's the difference between the 2 other than speed (i know it says it can affect some of the apps downloaded form the market)?

But I like the Bolt boot. It makes me feel like Zeus!

I booted up the phone with the gf present. She was like "By the Gods... What was that?"

Thanks, great app! That sound is just cheesy. For some reason it reminds me of the Blackberry Storm.
