    Software date

So you know how the Thunderbolt has been delayed and delayed for various reasons, one of them being that the battery life was horrible and some signal problems? I happened to be looking in the software section of my phone info tonight and the daye it shows on my software is Febuary 19th of 2011... It even shows me whay time it was created... So why exacty was the phone delayed again?...

Because there is a difference between Android software, Kernel, and Radio. All have different revisions. The Radio is "Firmware"... not "Software" as it requires "flashing". And if you screw up the "flashing" you could brick the phone.

I spoke with Verizon today about the poor battery life due to "signal problems". The 4G radio firmware was constantly looking for 4G towers... even when not in a 4G area, and with plenty of 3G coverage. It would not timeout properly.

So, they updated the Radio Firmware.

I realized it about 5 minutes after I posted that... I just wished the phone got better reception... Hopefully the next update will fix it.

Please describe your reception problem. If it is unique to your phone... or your area.... then there probably wont be a software fix.

I'm noticing poor reception as well. Places where i'd have Max bars of 3g I have 1 or 2 on my TB. But Then when it shows no bars I can still make texts/phone calls so I'm slightly confused about that.

Didn't a new software thing release a day before the thunderbolt came out? if so is that newer and possibly a fix for the battery issues?

All this is rummors and speculation guys. When I picked up my phone the store manager had another theory to the delay. He said that HTC was supposed to give best buy exclusive rights to the phone 2 weeks before it hit Verizon stores, Verizon didn't like that and held back allowing activation, and thus the delay with politics. Take that for what you want, fact, or just another rummor. As far as software updates joev hit the nail on the head.

From what i understand the TB uses GSM (like AT&T with sim card) for data and the phone is still CDMA. So you can talk and surf the web at the same time. AT&T phone is all GSM so that is why thet drop calls like they do. Im thinking (watch out) that the signal strenght bars are for data and not that of CDMA which is what your call and sms work off of. If Im wrong please feel free to correct me so we may all be a little smarter.

yeah. I forget to mention I had a droid 2. At my parents house the TB basically says I never have service yet I can still send text/calls but sometimes they don't go through the first time. The guy at the store said something about it figuring out which towers to pull from too so hopefully that does something.

Always about once a month you will want to call *228 and then hit option 2. This will update you your phone for towers.
