Available Memory drastically less with 2.3.4......
Before when I would kill all apps or restart the phone, my available memory would be anywhere from 348M to as low as 288M. Usually was above 300M though.
After yesterdays update to Gingerbread....I am now hitting around 187M after killing all apps and barely 200M after a reboot.
What gives? More bloatware?

Stop killing apps and get rid of the task killer
-
It's running Linux, not MS-DOS. Don't worry about the memory, the kernel manages it just fine.

Did that once before. Available memory would run out, phone was running super slow, battery was draining faster than normal (which is already bad- and phone would restart on its own while I was in the middle of something.

Then something is wrong. Trust me when I say that task killers might be the single biggest problem apps in all of the android universe.

Both, but not at the same time.

If you back out of an app it will usually close it, with the exception of some apps.
But 300 free is just crazy, i've never seen anything like that. I usually have like a little over 100 free but I have a lot of apps installed and am running a custom Rom, and my phone runs fine.
Killing off most apps will just make them start up again wasteing more battery.
