Text Notification

How do I make it so my new text doesn't automatically display on my screen? I prefer it just makes a sound or vibrates, I do not want my message to be displayed on the home screen until I unlock my phone & go into my message icon to view them. Thanks, any help is appreciated!

Not sure but i kind of like it. I will look into it.

Edit: That's odd there is not a setting to change it in the stock messaging app settings. :/

Don't use the large widget..just use the small icon then open when u have a text..try hancent I like it better.

Actually I spoke too soon. Now I'll get messages from both the message icon that was originally installed & the handcent app. Is there anyway to use just the handcent? I already removed the original "messages" icon from my home screen, but I am unable to figure out how to disable it so the handcent is the only thing receiving SMS & MMS. Any help would be VERY appreciated! Thanks!

You go into the original app and disable the notification area
