    4G flashes on and off

I live in a 4G area so I have my Thunderbolt set on 4G only and I have a great connection... but recently it seems like the data has been very fickle and seems to randomly flash between a strong 4G signal and no data at all (not completely disconnected, e.g. I have bars but they aren't 4G, 3G, or 1X). This is really frustrating because it seems like I'll be happily browsing the internet in the car or something (not driving, I promise :P), and a site will be loading and just suddenly stop. Data normally comes back soon enough, but it seems like I spend half my time on 4G and half my time staring at error messages on my browser of choice (it's Opera until we get 4.0 and Chrome, in case you were wondering... but who knows when that will be).

This seems to be a fairly new issue, or at least it's become more common as of late.

I'm running a rooted 2.11.605.5. My phone is rooted with Revolutionary, but I haven't flashed any ROMs or radios, stock everything. I'm kind of a noob in that facet, so please go easy on me–I just rooted to freeze the bloatware. Can't think of any apps that would be enabling and disabling the data. I have JuiceDefender (lawlz) but once the problem started I turned off its ability to disable and enable data. Help?

You could try reseating or replacing your battery cover. That's what mine does with the stock cover. No problems with the extended battery cover though.

I've been having this problem recently also. I thought it might be Juice Defender acting wonky and cycling the on/off of the radios, but it's interesting to know it may be a antenna/case problem. My wife uses a very early release extended battery and cover, and has the same problem (though not to the extent I do).

Current Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 (Stock... but for how long?)
    Kids Micro-Tablet: HTC ThunderBolt (CM7)

What exactly do you mean by reseating? I assume you mean just taking the battery door and battery out and putting them back in, so I did just a minute ago. I'll tell you if it helps like the poster above me, and I'd never even considered that it might be an issue with the battery/battery door. I hope it helps. I have noticed it *seems* to occur more frequently when we're on the move in the car.

I was considering getting the Rezound battery, and since I've heard lots of success stories about substituting it for the stock battery and getting somewhat better battery life without any added bulk.

Taking off the battery and cover didn't help... any other suggestions other than just buying a new battery and cover?

Hey, sorry to bump but I'd really appreciate some advice. This is a really frustrating issue. The 4G turned off when I tried to access my account on Tapatalk just now.

EDIT: I recorded a video to show the connection randomly going off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXSp...e_gdata_player

Try replacing the battery cover and sim card. Mine does that exact same thing with my stock battery cover. And since the sim handles 4g authentication I would replace that as well.

I've been having exact same problem for about 3 weeks plus one more problem.
A few times a day I can't type anything. Keyboard is working (it give me feed back) but characters won't show up in all apps.
I think something hogging the processor. During this time clock won't update for couple of minutes.

I'm thinking about doing factory reset later this week.
Hopefully factory reset will solve these problems....

Just buy a battery cover online? Sounds easy enough.

If the sale is still going you can get an extended battery with cover at the vzw store for $20
