Touch screen not working in some spots?

I've had my Thunderbolt since Christmas '11 and for the last month or so there's been a spot on the screen that sometimes doesn't work. Its a vertical line that covers the o, k, the 12#, and part of the i key. It won't work about 80% of the time. I don't remember if this started post-ICS update.

Is there anything I can do? Thanks

Try this: Go into system settings, language and keyboard, touch input settings icon on the right side of that menu, text input. Scroll to the bottom of that menu and calibrate your screen.

I tried that, but I couldn't type in some of the keys because the screen wasn't working, so it must not be the calibration. If it helps, the screen will sometimes just spazz out and go bonkers by clicking on randoms spots. It's pretty frustrating when I'm typing a text and the screen starts scrolling back and forth or when I'm reading something online and it starts scrolling rapidly.

If you're rooted, perhaps try fresh flashing a stock Rom to see if you still experience the issue. If you aren't rooted, this is likely a hardware issue.

Is there any way to fix a hardware issue without sending it to VZW or something?

Try wiping the cache partition first-see if it helps... Support - ?HTC ThunderBolt? (Verizon Wireless)? Product Support - News & download

You could try one of the numerous replacement parts outlets out there, and try to fix it yourself (not a difficult process), but I haven't seen too many do-it-yourself repairs produce favorable results honestly...
