Cool Watch the Final Space Shuttle Launch, Live on the NASA Android APP !!!

Android NASA App available just in time to watch Atlantis launch

NASA has launched the Android version of the NASA App just in time to use it to watch the space shuttle Atlantis launch.

The same app has been available for the iPhone and iPad for some time and has achieved over 5 million downloads. That’s due in no small part to the number of features on offer, with the most useful today being access to live streaming NASA TV feeds.

As well as the ability to watch the space shuttle Atlantis launch from your Android device, the NASA app offers up thousands of images from NASA’s growing collection, a library of NASA videos, mission information both past and present, launch countdown clocks, visible pass information for the International Space Station, ISS and Earth Orbiting Satellite tracking, and access to social features such as NASA Twitter and Facebook posts. It’s effectively a treasure trove of information for all the NASA fans out there, and looks to be kept up-to-date with new information of a regular basis.

Best of all, the app is free to download and use. It’s a 4MB download and works with Android 2.1 onwards. There is a note next to the NASA TV feature that states it isn’t compatible with all devices, so you’ll have to check if it works with your particular hardware. Even so, the app is getting very positive reviews from the 22 users who have took the time to rate it so far, and that’s sure to go up if the launch actually happens today.

To get your hands on the NASA App for Android just head on over to the Android Market and get it installed before 11:26am.

The NASA App can be found here: NASA Android App

Because NASA is full of iPhone fanboys. Did you read the story about an actual iPhone taken to actual space aboard an actual space shuttle? WOW!

I've seen two launches and they are incredible....we were just across the river in Titusville. As close as the public could get unless you were VIP. Wish we could have seen a night time launch. That would have been awesome.

Sonic! We live in in Satellite Beach. I've seen every launch since 1997.

That was the first thought I had after discovering the app when I used my phone to web browse to NASA.gov the morning of the launch. A pleasant surprise. But somehow upsetting in a way.

That's awesome! You are one lucky family. I would have loved to have lived near there. the downside is now NASA won't have anything so spectacular as a shuttle to launch. But those night time launches had to be unbelievable.
