WHoops....
Sorry, first post was in wrong spot. Anyways, I installed the leaked gingerbread via the exe file for software version 2.10.605.1. I wanted to return to stock and root so I fired up ADB. When I got to the line "adb shell /data/local/psneuter" in the first group of commands, I get "Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)". When I went into hboot to try to flash a stock ruu, I see on the top of the hboot screen the work "Locked" in white letters with red background. Would someone point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
PS... I started from the latest OTA update stock verizon software
Thanks again.

The only thing I can think or is to try to install a signed ruu. This would be an official version to hopefully let the locked bootloader install. Other than that I'll have to do some digging tomorrow.

It sounds to me like you have the new locked bootloader and the closed exploit patch that is supposedly shipping with the next OTA. I wasn't aware that was in an available RUU yet, just jcase's leak on Twitter.
I have read that Revolutionary root still works with that bootloader. There is a guide and link on this site. Try that...

I successfully used the Revolutionary root system to gain S-off and root my phone. I then promptly installed AOSPth3ory 1.5. Hboot now says "Revolutionary". I wonder if the "Locked" Hboot is going to be the one where HTC can unlock it? That would be nice.
Thank you all very much for your help.
Revolutionary is a cool tool. I cant wait till it is complete.

Yes, it is. My prediction is that Revolutionary might be the only root method possible in a very short timeframe.

Knowing you guys in the Dev community, I am quite sure there will always be some way of doing it. Truthfully, I was not disappointed in the performance of the RUU or the stability. I just wanted to try a ROM..... LOL
