Screen will not work, battery(ies) will not charge

Hello I am new here.

I have had my Thunderbolt since June 2011. It works perfectly fine. there is a big crack on the screen and the right side of the screen no longer works due to this. But it isn't really a problem. Yesterday I had my phone in my pocket, and i went to check it and nothing happened. the backlights on the soft keys lit up but the screen showed nothing on it. I tried pulling out the battery and then starting it up, and I felt it vibrate as it normally would when starting up, but nothing happened on screen. Once it did start, the backlights on the soft keys lit up but again, nothing appeared on the screen. The battery eventually died after pulling it out and restarting it a few times. So then I plugged it in to charge it. and the Orange light started blinking telling me it need a little charge before it can turn on as it normally does when the battery is dead. This light usually only blinks for 10-20 minutes before it turns to a solid orange light. but this time. it stayed blinking for 30 minutes, 40 minutes, more. It wouldn't stop blinking. after about an hour or two i looked back at it and the Orange light would blink, then the green light would blink then the orange again. and I looked that up and i found that that just means the phone is over heating, and it was VERY hot to the touch. So i took the battery out and let it cool down. then before going to bed i switched batteries to see if it was the battery it self (I usually use an Exteneded battery, so i switched it to the stock battery) And i plugged it in to charge, but to no avail. the same thing happened. Nothing has been working. I don't know what is wrong with it.

Another thing, I can not just get a new phone, because I am grandfathered into the unlimited data plan, so because of the new share everything plan i would need to pay full retail price, because removing my unlimited data plan is out of the question. and I also do not have the money to get a new phone as of now. and i won't for a few weeks. Also i need this phone because my whole life is on it!

What can I do to get it to work! Any help is appreciated! I am able to get inside of it, if that will help. Please any advice at all! Thank you in advance!
