thunderbolt outdated?

it seems like there are no recent roms for the phone. i unrooted when HTC finally released their OTA and realized soon after that without root you can't do some things. so i just recently rooted again and was expecting some newer roms . however there aren't any. whats going on? have i fallen behind in the phone tech era??? is it time to upgrade???

The rom scene is a little stagnant right now for the TB, but that is sure to change once the devs get their hands on a working ICS build.

This has been a common discussion with some of the "older" phones (i.e. the Thunderbolt and the Charge). These phones have been out a year now and there are newer and "better" phones out (I use the term better loosely). I have a feeling the majority of the developers have moved to newer devices and thus the development for the Bolt has slowed. And to be honest there is nothing new for the Bolt. If or when ICS is released for the Bolt we will see development then but until then I think we are pretty much done.

Sad but true. The devs out there that have made some great roms for us just don't have anything new to add right now.

I agree with you guys. I've been putting up threads on hoping to spark some kind of creation for a new rom but its like you said without a leak there's nothing these Dev's can do. But, I don't get it can't the Devs take a leak from another phone and just readjust the images and function? lets take the Sensation, its just like the thunderbolt, right? why can't they just take some bits and pieces and make it into a new rom or an update to their roms? For instance the "Bliss" is a leak and we have the SoaB, the other team "Virtuous" got the 4.0 Sense on a few phones I was hoping for the TB being one of their phones but nothing doing.
I guess the TB is forgotten because Verizon mentioned that ICS will come to the TB but never a date. So, I'm thinking maybe in September, which is years from now. Oh well, maybe a new phone will be my choice. I wish the One X was coming to verizon because that looks so sweet. Dumb Verizon, always late on picking up new phones or phones that will be forgotten in 2 months. Thats what happened to the TB, after 2 months that was it. the Bionic came out and that was a disappointment. then the LG, Charge and where are those phones? lost in the collection of forgotten phones.

The TB isn't forgotten by any means, there just isn't anything new being released for it right now. When ICS becomes available, rooted devices will have it first..just like when GB was released. Also, there will be waves of ICS ROMs coming out then too. Most of the devs have moved on from the TB to newer devices but, for this phone to be over a year old, there is still a great deal of things available for it. I personally haven't seen a phone with as much development support since the OG Droid and the Droid X as the TB. Porting works...at times but an actual leak is always the best bet. BAMF has an Alpha build of ICS but no one can get data working.
Of course, I run the same ROM for a month or two at a time. I just flashed Sky Raider after being on Side Project since November. Haha! I have no reason to look elsewhere from SR...plus I'm currently making a theme for it too. I doubt SR will update until ICS is finally available but I have a feeling it'll be worth the wait

Thanks "DD" for a nice thorough heads up. I'm on Sky Raider as of yesterday. Its clean and runs awesome. I also flip from SR to SoaB to MIUI but finding myself back to Bamf roms. I just feel that everyone is having so much fun with their newer phones and the roms thats created for them. While us "the TB" gang are in the back watching.
I saw the HTC One X and was soooo jealous. I wish that was a Verizon phone. Now, I see that "Virtuous" team are already creating roms with the 4.0 Sense and its back to being jealous again.
I guess I'll just have to wait till something happens to the TB.

Has anyone found a good combination ROM that has good batt life? i.e. rom/kernel/radio etc.. i'm currently running liquid gingersense v2.0 and it get's ok life, if i don't use it a lot....
