Just Ordered My Thunderbolt :)
I am so excited! i really can not wait till 4:30 tomorrow afternoon! I was always on this site, and since i finally will have a droid, a HTC Thunderbolt, i thought this would be the perfect time to join. Anything i should do to or know about my Thunderbolt? I want to get a case a soon as possible any suggestions, and if i were to get an extended battery are there cases that would fit those? I don't live in a 4g area, but i visit one every other month or so, so I'm not sure if my battery will even last a few hours or if i will even need one. Also are their any goods starter apps? Any cool camera apps, or entertaining ones at the least. One more thing, what the most bomb, live or static wallpaper available?

I love the Lightning live wallpaper. Fun for quite a while. My only advice would be to learn the phone and see what you like dislike then ask questions. And don't let people push you into rooting if you don't have something specific in mind for why you want root.

I have the lightning live wallpaper. But in order to make mine work without lag while scrolling, I had to overclock it to 1.41ghz...

It didn't come
it stayed in Phoenix since this morning and never left, and it's only like 4 hours away
such a sad day, is there any other reason to root it, if not for gingerbread which will eventually be released? i waited forever for my Palm Pre Plus update! it didn't come out till after the second palm received it's first update and it did not even improve anything, so i will have patience, and thanks all for welcoming me!

Welcome to the forum from another part of Arizona (Tucson). Glad to have you with us.

I use the Seidio case and am totally thrilled with it. The Seidio cases allow the phone to keep its sleek design yet gain durability. Now the Seidio cases at the moment do not fit the extended battery. At least not that I am aware of. You can look at the various seidio cases at Seidio Corporate.

Battery drain is an issue with the Thunderbolt. I have a link in my signature that will give you some tips on what you can do to extend the battery. One of the big things is to use 4g minimally. We do not have 4g here in Tucson yet either but I have been to Phoenix and to San Diego (both 4g areas) and I have literally watched the battery drop like a rock. There is an app in the market called 4g Switch that allows you to switch off the 4g and leave it on 3g only, which I use.

As for apps and such those are really a personal choice. I would suggest you check out our App threads and read up on them. Another really good rule of thumb is when looking at them in the Market, read the reviews and see what people are saying about the various apps. I would strongly suggest you stay away from any Task Killer as they are not needed with an Android phone and are really battery killers. Other than that just have fun with your Tbolt.
As for rooting, rooting the Tbolt is not for the faint of heart. Now I am not saying it can't be done cuz it can and I have done it. But it does take some patience and time. If you decide to root do not use the one click methods as I have seen those methods cause a lot of issues. I would suggest you use the manual way. Its a bit more time consuming and tedious but in the end it is well worth it and more stable.

Welcome to our lovely abode. Definitely check the links in my sig, but also browse the apps section. If this is your first android device, then you are going to have a slight learning curve. That is only ever beginning of the fun!
